Reading Across Cultures Webinar Series

Reading Across Cultures Webinar Series: Social Justice

Once a month, the World Area Book Awards (Américas Award, Africana Book Award, Middle East Book Award, South Asia Book Award) sponsor a free 60 minute webinar on a book recognized by one of the awards and facilitate a discussion with the author on how to incorporate the book into the classroom. We encourage educators to read the books with your colleagues, students, and community, and then join us to hear more from the author.

On March 20, 2019, join us for a 60 minute webinar/chat to explore the diversity of Cuba with award winning author, Ruth Behar. Behar will discuss her book Lucky, Broken Girl and share teaching and discussion ideas.

Be sure to join the conversation with our webinar hashtag #2019ReadingAcrossCultures. All sessions are free and open to the public. All times listed refer to Eastern Standard Time (EST). Sponsored by the Consortium of Latin American Studies Programs, the South Asia National Outreach Consortium, the Middle East Outreach Council, Africa Access and the Freeman Book Award. The Américas Award sponsored webinar is supported with generous funding from Florida International University, Tulane University, University of Florida, University of Texas at Austin, Vanderbilt University and the University of Utah.
