The 2021 Winners of the Américas Award for Children’s and Young Adult Literature have been announced! This year’s award goes to Digging for Words: José Alberto Gutiérrez and the Library He Built (Schwartz & Wade, 2020), written by Angela Burke Kunkel and illustrated by Paula Escobar, and Land of the Cranes (Scholastic Press, 2020), written by Aida Salazar.

The 2021 Américas Award also recognizes 3 Honorable Mention titles: Furia (Algonquin Young Readers, 2020), written by Yamile Saied Méndez, ¡Vamos! Let’s Go Eat (Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, 2020), written by Raúl the Third and colors by Elaine Bay, and If Dominican Were a Color (Simon & Schuster Books for Young Readers, 2020), written by Sili Recio and illustrated by Brianna McCarthy.
